Rhinoplasty aims to correct an aesthetic defect in the nose, for a natural and harmonious result. There are 2 types of rhinoplasty: surgical rhinoplasty and medical rhinoplasty.
It is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Edema and bruising around the eyes may persist for several days. The nose is fragile for 2 to 3 months, it is advisable to avoid contact sports. Convalescence with social exclusion is recommended between 8 and 10 days, while wearing a splint. Tissue retraction is slow, and the result is visible at one year.
Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, medical rhinoplasty is an aesthetic gesture on the nose, without surgery. The latter can be indicated in first intention, for small corrections of the nose or in second intention, after an old surgical rhinoplasty. This is an injection of hyaluronic acid performed in consultation, with a real remodeling of the nasal ridge: correction of a small bump, refinement of the nose or raising of the nasal tip. The results are stable over 12 to 18 months. Medical rhinoplasty can integrate a more global treatment: profiloplasty which consists of treating the chin, cheekbones, or even the upper lip with injections of hyaluronic acid.
